CalChess Girls Age-Level State Championship, February 29 th , 2020
Join girls all over Northern California for the 3rd Annual CalChess Girls Age Level State Chess
Championship! Not only is this an OFFICIAL STATE CHAMPIONSHIP for GIRLS ONLY
(sorry, boys!), it's a festival to celebrate girls who love chess! Grab your girlfriends from your
school or club & form a team to win the club championship trophy!
Tournament Trophies
Trophies to top 5 players in each section, a plaque for the top player of each age group, and
gorgeous medals for everyone! Special trophy for any player with a perfect score, Best Game
trophy, and Team and Club Trophies as well! $1,000 prize to the winner of the Open Section to
attend the All-Girls National Championship in Chicago!
Sections
Ages 5, 6, and 7 Prize: Trophies
Ages 8 and 9 Prize: Trophies
Ages 10 and 11 Prize: Trophies
Ages 5 – 18 (Chicago Group) Prize: The winner of the Open Section will receive a
$1,000 check to attend the All-Girls National
Championship in Chicago, IL April 17 th – 19 th . Prize
money will be forfeit if the player does not attend the All-
Girls National Championship.
In the event of a tie, prize will be divided equally (in case
of a 2-way tie each player receives $500.00, 3-way tie each
player receives $333.33)

Registration starts on 11/23/2019 and ends on 02/29/2020.

Schedules
5 Rounds, Time Control-G/45 with a 5 sec delay.
Round times:
9:00 am, 10:45 am, 12:30 pm, 2:15 pm and 4:00 pm, with awards at 5:45 pm.
Entry Fee
$40 if received by 11:59 pm on February 25th, 2019, after which a $10 late fee applies.
Late entry on Saturday is from 8:00 - 8:30 am only. Checks made payable to Berkeley Chess
School. ($50 entry on site)

AGE CUT OFF FOR SECTIONS IS AGE AS OF FEBRUARY 1ST, 2020! PLAY UP IS
ALLOWED, BUT PLAYERS ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO PLAY UP INTO THE 5-18
CHICAGO TRIP SECTION! EVERYONE MUST PLAY IN THEIR OWN AGE GROUP
IF THEY ARE NOT PLAYING IN THE CHICAGO GROUP.
