This class is canceled. All who have registered can be refunded or if they prefer, they can transfer payment to the Friday Night program in San Ramon, if they would like that. (There is no novice level at the San Ramon Friday Night class) We are canceling because the time was changed and our instructor cannot come at the new time. We hope to set up a new session on Tuesdays later on. Another option is to take the class at Dougherty Station starting 9/4 from 4:30-5:30. Registration for that class is through the City of San Ramon. Thank you for your understanding! Our classes include 20 minutes of instruction and 40 minutes of supervised play. Boards and sets are provided. For students interested in participating in our weekend tournaments, you can find informationHERE! For thousands of years, the chess board has been one of humanity’s greatest educational tools. We are only now beginning to understand the full depth of the mental benefits playing chess can have, particularly in children. But it has always been known that chess offers something special. It is both entertaining and educational. It keeps kids coming back in a way that few other games can manage. For all these reasons and more, Berkeley Chess School believes that teaching children to love chess is the best way to teach them important skills like creativity, problem-solving, perseverance, patience, critical thinking, and many more that will last them their entire lives. https://www.chess-site.com/chess-schools/berkeley-chess-school
