We are now offering a Thursday evening chess class in Alameda from 5:00 to 6:30pm every week from February 23 to March 30, 2017. The format will be a half hour lecture by instructors Stephen Shaughnessy and Andrew Mueckenberger followed by a USCF-rated tournament game with a time control of G25/d5 (meaning each player has 25 minutes to complete their moves plus 5 extra seconds per move). It will be held at Encinal High School, Portable 4, 210 Central, Alameda. All ages welcome, although the lectures will be geared towards experienced players of strength 500-1500 USCF.
Players can also drop in for just the rated games from 5:30-6:30pm for a fee of $6 per game. Prizes for each six-week tournament will be determined by how many people participate. Children and adults are welcome to enroll in this class.
