The Berkeley Chess School offers a Novice class at Grace Presbyterian Church, 2100 Tice Valley Boulevard, Walnut Creek, CA 94595.
Classes are 60 minutes in duration, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
This class is for beginners.
Please note: ***When your child, who started as a novice, is promoted to Intermediate 1, either after taking the novice level one or more times, or during a class session, at that time your child will need to purchase the U S Chess Federation membership so that they can play in the rated tournament. ***
Also, when they move up to Intermediate 1, the fee will increase to the $30/night fee.
While still in the Novice class, and not playing in the tournament, they do not need the US Chess Federation membership, and the fee is $20/night
